An Excess of Green

It is so nice out, and the air smells like warm. Everything is blooming. I think it is time for a post of Pretty Things.

The photography of Irene Suchocki is way pretty. It makes me want to wear that blue linen dress from the last post and frolick somewhere outside. And I am NOT the frolicking type. Well, maybe secretly I am. But don't tell anybody.

I like this hat. A lot. It was featured on this Japanese website, cdcstores.com. I'm not quite sure what the function of this website is, seeing as I can't read Japanese, but you should definitely check it out if you know what's good for you because the clothes are all mad cute.

I like these two plaid people from The Sartorialist, especially the girl, who is totally rocking the androgynous look like it's no big thing. Very very stylish, oh how I envy her. (The bearded guy is there half for comedic value, half for secretly looking kind of badass.) (Also parenthetically, I have been informed that "the girl" as I mistakenly referred to her is Irana Lazareanu. Yes, the secret is out: I am an idiot.)

I cannot adequately espress how much I love this weird crochet/cameo thing from kjoo. It is so bizarre and pretty. It looks like sea anenomes growing up around some old ruin, doesn't it?

These earrings from Lost in the Forest are named after one of my favorite creepy-good books from when I was little, Coraline. They are very adorable and I think I might have to shamelessly jack this idea and make some for myself.

And finally, here are some bunnies hanging off a tree from Kristiana Parn. I think they deserve a spot on your wall, don't you?

Whew all of that inspiration-sorting wore me out. I think it is time for some Lucky Charms and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

p.s.- Why is it that all the links in my link list work, but the ones in my posts don't? Am I doing something wrong or what?

Seafoam Blue + Empire Waist

These are two dresses that I have finished recently. I didn't realize until looking at these pictures that they shared the two titular traits, but it's really no surprise, as my taste in clothes is pretty formulaic. Now for the sewing details, if you're interested in that kind of thing:
~The first one wasn't too hard to make, and I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out. I absolutely love the fabic, anyway. It's this gorgeous silky knit, doesn't fray at all, with the subtlest Grecian-type motif. I got it 50% off, too, which is nice. So I may have messed up the fit of it a little by making the bodice casings too wide, but I like the fabric so much that I'm going to wear it to shreds anyway.
~The second gave me a little more trouble, as I cut it a size too small and used the wrong weight interfacing for the midriff band. Also, I somehow distributed the gathers so that one side sort of poofs out more than the other... probably has something to do with the side zipper. S it's got a few flaws, but it's still wearable. It's made out of some fairly heavy linen, which is fine, but next time I'll probably go for something finer. I do love the two shades of blue together, though- an excellent color combination, if I do say so myself. Which I do.
So here are my first two summer dresses of the season. (The second one I technically started last summer, but I forgot about it and didn't finish it until a couple weeks ago.) These should be good to wear with Chuck Taylors and hoodies for now, then low wedges and bare arms in a couple months. I find that dressing for warm weather is so much easier, but somehow not as much fun when you take the challenge out of it. Oh well, I revel in it anyway... what do you think?

Where ARE these guys in real life?

Oh, Sartorialist. Why must you taunt me with these pictures of Boy Perfection? Where are all the vintage-wearing, bike-riding boys in MY town? Sigh...

IntroIntroIntroduction

I'm Madeline/Maddy, whichever you prefer, and this here blog is my latest venture into unnecessary self-awareness. It is called Fashion for Losers, so named because I feel like a weenie when I compare myself to most of the chicks who keep these blogs. I'm definitely not some kind of Susie-Bubble-fashion-genius, just a regular old boring highschooler with access to the Internet and a digital camera. So don't expect epic greatness- this is just a place to collect my thoughts, fashion-wise, and catalogue the things/people that inspire me. Anyway, here are some typical Maddy ensembles so you can get a feel for just what kind of loser you're dealing with here.

Yeah, these outfits pretty much contain every Maddy trademark there is, which I have helpfully compiled in the following list:

- navy blue + grey
- lowish necklines
- knee socks
- skirts of questionable length
- hoodies
- charm necklace
- the ever-present Chuck Taylors
So, you know, if you ever need to pick me out of a lineup... look for that stuff. Here are some closeups:

There you have it! That, my Internet friends, is how I rock it. Jealous? Um yeah well you should be.
